Campaign Story

My name is Stacy, and I have POI, commonly referred to as premature ovarian failure. POI is when a woman’s ovaries stop working normally before she is 40. I was diagnosed in 2013 and told I would never be able to conceive my own children since my egg reserve was diminished.

In the coming years, I would learn that I could conceive children through donor egg IVF. I spent many days and months researching the best options for me.

My journey to become a mom started in the summer of 2020. I was excited and anxious to begin this new chapter of my life. I did not realize at the time how long it would take to make my dreams a reality. In the early part of 2021, I found my egg and sperm donor. Unfortunately, the donors I chose did not produce viable embryos. This was absolutely devastating. The contract I signed allowed me another set of donor eggs since the first cohort didn’t produce an embryo.  The same donor was not available so I had to look for another one. These eggs did not produce a viable embryo.  At this point, I was out of the money that I had put out to fund this process which was over $25,000. I wasn’t ready to call it quits just yet..

So, in December of 2021, I began again. I found new donors and a new clinic and started the process all over again. This second chace was very expensive since none of the IVF treatments including donor eggs, donor sperm or the procedure is covered by my insurance.  So far on this second round, I’ve spent $24,000. In April of 2022 I had my first transfer of an embryo.  I was excited and hopeful that it would work but my blood test came back negative.   As you can imagine, this was absolutely devastating. My 2nd transfer will be this coming fall so I’m asking for your help on this new journey by donating to my fundraiser. I’m seeking assistance with the financial burden of fertility treatments. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and would be honored if you would help.
